  2. How to share a background check

What is volunteer background check sharing?

Securely share your background check with an unlimited number of nonprofits and service organizations within the Sterling Volunteers community.

Volunteers can securely share their background check for FREE with an unlimited number of organizations within the Sterling Volunteers community, provided their check meets the organization's minimum requirements. Volunteer background check sharing reduces the need for repeat screenings--which can save time when onboarding new volunteers and reduce costs for the organizations they care about.

If you have a completed background check that is not more than 1 year old, you may share your completed report by clicking ''Find Organizations and Share my Background Check''.

You may find other organizations by using filters such ZIP code, Distance or State. You may also enter the organization name.

You will see a list of organizations with their contact information based on the filters that you used.

If the SHARE button is available, it means that the level of the background check report you currently have meets the minimum requirement of the organization. Click SHARE to send them a copy of your background check electronically.

If the UPGRADE SCREENING button is showing, it means that the level of your background check report does not meet the minimum requirement of the organization. You will be required to submit a new background check if you wish to join them. Please contact them directly if you are interested in joining their organization.
